ADR Awareness Training Course
Product Details

This is a one day course designed for people whose work involves handling, shipping or transporting dangerous goods. The course is based around looking at the regulations and the nature of the dangers with chemical substances. Also looking at the packaging, labelling and documenting those substances, as well as loading, transporting and security around dangerous goods.

Key points in ADR 3.1 awareness:

  1. UN Numbers — 4-digit codes identifying dangerous substances (e.g., UN 1203 = petrol).
  2. Proper Shipping Names (PSN) — The exact names that must be used on documentation and packages.
  3. Classes & Divisions — ADR divides dangerous goods into 9 classes (explosives, gases, flammable liquids, etc.).
  4. Dangerous Goods List Structure — Each column in the DGL (e.g., column 3 = class, column 4 = packing group, column 8 = special provisions) tells you the regulatory requirements.
  5. Special Provisions & Packaging Instructions — Where to find extra rules for a specific item.
  6. Limited & Excepted Quantities — Links to 3.4 and 3.5 for exemptions from full ADR requirements.

At awareness level, staff don’t need to memorise every rule, but they should understand:

  • How to check if a substance is dangerous under ADR.
  • Where to look up the correct requirements.
  • Why following the table correctly matters for safety and compliance.
